Native American activities to be featured in Keokuk this weekend
Tri-State Area residents can learn more about Native American traditions and customs by attending the American Indian Winter Gathering at Faith Family Church in Keokuk Saturday and Sunday. The event also will include Native American arts and crafts, a bake sale, food, and hot and cold drinks.

O'Malley orders long-sought recognition for Piscataway tribe
Hundreds of Piscataway tribe members -- including Natalie Proctor, left, and Mervin Savoy -- gathered Monday beneath the State House dome in Annapolis as Gov. Martin O'Malley issued executive orders formally recognizing the Native American tribe as a distinct people. It is the first time Maryland has given formal recognition to a tribe.
